Doug writes for television, theatre and film.

 

He spent two years as head writer for Network Ten’s THE COMEDY COMPANY and went on to write and produce around thirty episodes of THE COLIN CARPENTER SHOW  for Channel Ten before joining Artist Services full-time and becoming a principle writer on FAST FORWARD, FULL FRONTAL (which he also produced) andBIG GIRL’S BLOUSE (which he also script edited). He went on to write five episodes of SEACHANGE then returned to producing three series of THE MICALLEF PROGRAM and 22 episodes of THE BOB DOWNE SHOW. He script edited all series of KATH & KIM as well as the feature film.

 

Doug wrote the libretto for the opera, MIDNITE, based on the book by Randolph Stow, for Opera Australia, which premiered at the 2004 Melbourne Festival and had a season at the State Theatre Company of South Australia in 2005.

 

He co-wrote with John Clarke a new musical based on the May Gibbs book, THE ADVENTURES OF SNUGGLEPOT & CUDDLEPIE AND LITTLE RAGGED BLOSSOM for Belvoir Street Theatre, Windmill Performing Arts and the Sydney Festival.

 

Doug co-created and wrote the series DOGSTAR for the BBC and Channel 7.  He won  AWGIE Awards for A DOG’S TALE in 2006 and MAN BITES DOG in 2008 as well as  the John Hinde Award.  The series premiered in the UK in 2007. Doug also wrote episodes of TIME TRACKERS, CJ THE DJ, MONSTER EDITIONS and SNAKE TALES.

 

Doug has also written for WHATEVER HAPPENED TO THAT GUY for the Comedy Channel and MR AND MRS MURDER for Channel 10.
