Sean Riley is an award-winning playwright, director and teacher. He is one of Australia's leading creators of theatre for and by young people.
His play for young audiences, Beautiful Words premiered by Oddbodies Theatre Company to enormous critical acclaim in 2006, winning the Adelaide Theatre Guide’s Award for Best Dramatic Production of the 2005/06 season and the Adelaide Theatre Critic’s Award for Best New Play.
Over the course of a thirty year career his theatrical credits include; Eat Me (1991), They Landed in Latex (1992), The Time of Ashes (2001), Puberty Blues (1996) , My Sister Violet (2005) Also a Mirror (2006), The Visitors (2010), Skip Miller’s Hit Songs (2011) and Grave Child (2017) for Oddbodies Theatre Company, Riverland Youth Theatre, Cirkidz, Unley Youth Theatre, Windmill, ABC Radio, Brink Productions, Adelaide Festival for the Arts and most recently SAYarts.
His past students include Closer Productions writer and director Sophie Hyde and Matthew Cormack; actress Kate Box (Rake, Picnic at Hanging Rock); writer & producer Drew Proffit (Dead Lucky, House Husbands) and actress Miranda Daughtry (STC ensemble, A Dolls House).
